About Katie
A public service attorney, singer-songwriter, and well-being advocate, researcher, and educator, Stanley regularly facilitates research-based mindfulness trainings and volunteers in a wide variety of public service positions, including being an appointed member of the Michigan Supreme Court/State Bar of Michigan Task Force on Well-Being in the Law and the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board, a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Lawyers and Judges Assistance Committee, a regular contributing columnist to the ‘Practicing Wellness’ section of the Michigan Bar Journal, an elected member of the State Bar of Michigan’s LGBTQ Council, a Fellow for the Google-born Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, and a member of the Crim Fitness Foundation Mindfulness Initiative Advisory Board. Stanley was a panelist on the first ever attorney well-being seminar at the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and an American Bar Association On the Rise 40 Under 40 honoree in 2022 for Innovation in Public Service. Following law school, Stanley earned an M.P.A. from the University of Michigan-Flint Rackham Graduate School with a masters thesis on the efficacy of employee wellness programs and is currently working on a PhD with a dissertation focus of mindfulness-based interventions in the legal field through a levels of social change and embodied social justice lens.
